Raising Awareness of Sleep Disorders
SHARE YOUR SLEEP STORY!
Hello,
I am currently working on several projects focusing on raising awareness of sleep disorders. I would like to hear your story!
How has your sleep disorder changed your life? Once you had received your diagnosis and treatment, how did this save your life, your marriage, or your job? Have you lost a loved one to a drowsy driver? These stories will be used in various multi-media productions and events. Please let me know if you would like to be included in these projects. You can remain anonymous if you prefer.

Snoring Ruined My Marriage!
I love my husband, but I can’t sleep in the same room with him. His snoring sounds like a jackhammer. I begged him to see a doctor, but he said he didn’t have a problem… I did. On top of that, it really scares me when he stops breathing.
I Was Sleeping My Life Away!
Ever since I can remember, I felt different. Every day was a struggle to stay awake. I always dreamed of being a cheerleader. I was barely able to stay awake in my classes, and keeping my grades above a “C” was a constant struggle. I just didn’t fit in.
Asleep at 70 mph!
Somehow I lived after falling sleep at 70 mph. Thank goodness for the freeway rumble strips that woke me up. I did not even realize that I was tired, yet alone that I was falling asleep!
Someone Is Eating In My Kitchen At Night.
I kept blaming my kids and my husband for messing up the kitchen when I went to bed at night. Finally after months of this, I set up a video camera to catch the midnight eater. It only took a few nights to see that it was me! How could I walk through my house, make a mess in my kitchen, eat, and not remember a thing, or wake up? No wonder I was gaining weight!
I Dread the Bed!
The dreaded night is upon me again. Just the thought of going to bed starts the anxiety all over again. Clock-watching is my night, struggling to stay awake is my day. Why can’t I turn off my brain when I go to bed? I cannot function anymore!
Drowsy Driving Kills!
My wife died last year. The bus driver that fell asleep and hit her car lived. There were no skid marks, no investigation into his health history, and no pre-screening tests before he got behind the wheel. My wife died and he lived.
My Legs are Making Me Climb The Walls!
I walk the halls all night long. I go to bed and then my legs start going crazy! Sometimes it starts when I am watching television in the evenings.
